Detroit Speedwagon is a tribute band to one of the greatest classic rock bands
from the 70’s and 80’s, REO Speedwagon. Just as with the original REO band,
Detroit Speedwagon consists of some of the top talented musicians in the
Midwest, hailing from the southeast Michigan area.
The leader of the group and lead singer, Gary Simon, embodies the sound and
inflections of REO’s lead singer, Kevin Cronin, while playing acoustic or electric
guitars, just as Kevin did. Then taking on the difficult task of portraying the guitar
mastery of the late Gary Richrath, on lead guitar, Detroit Speedwagon has the
amazing talents of Todd Ketcher, nailng the tone and note-for-note solos on his
Les Paul as if he were Richrath reincarnated. Then the driving force behind our
wagon, we have a rhythm section consisting of Eric Chesnick on drums along with
Duff Durieu on bass and vocals. Then to complete the bands lineup, we have
onboard, Larry James on keyboards and vocals, adding the finishing touches to
bring on the familiar tones and sounds of REO Speedwagon. All together this
group creates the live experience of an actual REO Speedwagon concert.
This wagon has the versatility to travel at any speed, whether slowing down
with some of REO’s beautiful ballads such as “Keep On Lovin’You”
or “Can’t Fight The Feeling”, then turn around and kick it into high gear with
rockin’ songs like “Ridin’ the Storm Out”, “Roll With the Changes”,”Keep Pushin’”,
“Golden Country”, “Back on the Road Again” and many more.
So if you are looking for a band that is sure to have the audience singing and
dancing along to all of their favorite songs like the classic hit “Time For Me To Fly”
or “Take It On The Run”, at your venue, concert, theater or special event, then
this is the band you need because “I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a
friend”, that Detroit Speedwagon is the real deal.
