We’re pleased to introduce saxophonist, Chet Allen. Chet left his day-job in 2008 and turned his passion into his vocation. Part of the transition involved spending time in New Orleans, playing in the French Quarter, and learning from some the area’s most seasoned musicians. Chet combines that experience with his Motown and smooth-jazz background, which extended to Grover Washington Jr., David Sanborn, and then a list of others. Chet has put that all together to present what you are about to hear.
A little history – Saxophonist Chet is a Saginaw native and began learning to play the sax while attending Ricker Jr. High School. As a teenager he played in local bands like ‘The Countdowns’, ‘Maximum Effect’, and ‘The Native Sous’. This led to studying music theory and piano at Delta College. Chet’s job with the City of Saginaw turned into an investment of time and a 22 year career; retiring from the City in 2008. Since that time he has worked to fine-tune his music skills by continuing his studies and performing at a variety of venues, resulting in turning his passion into a new profession.
